1996 Miata MX-5 5 speed manual 143k timingbelt@112k rollbar wideband for sale in Indianapolis, Indiana

$2,800

5 speed 1996 Miata 143k miles
Clean title - hail damage and rear hit prior to owning the car.
The good:
Completely stock engine and mostly stock exhaust. Catback was replaced and sounds tasteful. A Mazda dealership should be able to work on this with no issues.
Engine fires right up after sitting for 3 weeks (normal interval that I do a full warmup for about 30 minutes).
No HLA (lifter/valve) noise when ambient temperature 55 degrees. Minor noise when starting below freezing temps. This is normal and is not audible upon revs. Check out miata.net for more info on HLA.
Timing belt changed at 112k by AIM tuning in Gasoline Alley, Indianapolis. They are the premiere miata tuners within the city of Indianapolis.
I've always had great experiences with Shane Benson.
5 speed shifts great. 3rd gear will grind from 2nd sometimes. I usually skip it or wait an extra second to put it into gear and then it doesn't grind.
I believe the rear is a Limited Slip, you can test it.
Tires are 80% and Hankook Ipikes which outrank Blizzaks for the price. You can go anywhere in the winter with this car.
Black from the factory
SAFETY: /Miata_Rollbars.html
Has a $500+ double hoop rollbar from Bossfrog. These have stood the test of accidents in side to side impact and rollovers. I can't say they will save your life but it should help a great deal.
Hawk HPS pads + new Raybestos Rotors
Factory ECU w/Megasquirt PNP addon - toggle switch for when you want to start doing your own tuning. The megasquirt portion is poorly tuned at the moment but the stock ECU
runs great with 15.2 AFR.
AEM wideband + gauge installed in HVAC vent.
Speakers are in the car and seat but needs a CD player.
AC worked but needed recharged. It blew mildly cold.
Slave cylidner was replaced because of failed seal. (common miata issue)
Rear right caliper replaced due to dragging (less common miata issue)
Clean title
The bad:
Hail damage on hood and parts perpendicular to the sky.
Needs rear left caliper replaced - I have a remanufactured rear left caliper and a rotor and the hawk hps brake pads for that corner
Front right upper balljoint needs replaced and the car needs aligned. Pulls to right when you turn right. I have driven the car at 55mph and had to hold the steering wheel at a certain
angle to make it stay straight.
Soft top deflects water except for the rear window. It was destroyed in the hail storm.
Had a rear hit but only did cosmetic damage. It looks mostly normal as you can see in the pics. The suspension in the rear did not feel or sound like it had an issue when I bought the car.
Overall you are getting a clean title 1996 miata 1.8 for about the same price as a better conditioned stock 1.6. If you have never driven a 1.8 miata, it is quite a change from the 1.6 and makes a good turbo candidate.
The photo from the front is before the hail.
I have 2 93 rx7 rollers for sale and a 2000 chevy 3500 dually if you are looking for something else!
